frequently asked questions
What is a highlight film and what does it consist of?
A wedding highlight film is a creative, cinematic edited video comprised of video and audio clips from the whole wedding day. It includes footage from getting ready to the reception with the best video clips and audio captured from the day. A highlight film is 6-8 minutes long, set to music, and includes edited video (including drone), and audio coverage.
When booking photo and video, are you able to cover it all with two people?
Yes! Actually, it can be easier because we are used to working together! It is very natural for us to switch between shooting photography and video coverage and we are able to easily communicate with each other about our timeline and what needs to be covered. An extra benefit of us being both the photographers and videographers is that you will have less people in your space all day which is more relaxing for you and your bridal party! Having 3-4 (or more) people with cameras around you all day can be a little hectic at times, so having both of us can be a benefit for you. Also, we are able to provide more coverage of the bride and groom before the ceremony because we can split up and be at two different locations.
Do you also cover rehearsal dinners? I’m looking for a longer, documentary style video, is that something you can provide?
Absolutely! If you are interested in adding more coverage, we are happy to discuss options of adding on additional days and events. If you would like a type of video that isn’t specifically listed, please reach out to us! We would love to talk to you about exactly what you are looking for and develop a custom package to fit your needs.
Do I get to choose the music? How does that work?
The music we use in highlight films is very important in determining the flow of the whole highlight video. It sets the tone and it is crucial in determining when and how video clips are edited together. We also carefully select music that we pay for and are licensed to use for wedding films. We do take your style into consideration when selecting music. Usually, we get a good sense of your preference based on your first dance songs, but we are happy to talk to you more about it as well.
Do you charge a travel fee?
We usually do not charge a travel fee unless the wedding is more than 1.5 hours away. The travel fee for Nashville, TN, and St. Louis, MO is $250. There is not a travel fee for most of Southern Illinois, Western, Kentucky, and Eastern Missouri. If you have any questions about the the distance of your wedding, please reach out! We would be happy to talk with you about it.
Do you provide the raw video files?
We do not provide raw files for a few reasons. Most importantly, raw video files are very large unedited files that are often shot in settings that are intended to be edited. Another reason is that raw files are often filled with unsteady video, movement, and noise that we never intend to include in your film but is just part of the video process. It takes hours for us to review all the videos and take of the best parts of each. Instead of raw files - we are happy to offer copies of your ceremony, and receptions and speeches, which are edited with quality video and audio clips.
