Blue Sky Vineyard
Seeking peace and tranquility for a weekend getaway, we booked a treehouse located near the edge of the Shawnee National Forest in Makanda, Illinois. During our one hour drive from Metropolis, Illinois, we enjoyed the last snow of the winter season which left a beautiful white blanket across the land as we pulled into the treehouse drive. We couldn't resist capturing some aerial footage with our drone, showcasing the treehouse, the winter landscape, and the serene wooded scenery.

Inside the treehouse, we found brochures about Blue Sky Vineyard , a local winery that was right down the road and decided to take an afternoon trip. As we pulled into the vineyard's driveway, we were greeted by rows of vines creating a beautiful countryside. Instantly, we felt transported to a Tuscan vineyard. Walking up to the building, we were impressed with the Tuscan inspired architecture with stucco finishes and grand arched entrances. The masterfully crafted wooden door welcomed us into a charming bar and seating area where they served lunch and many different wines crafted from the vineyard. As creatives, we immediately recognized the potential of this serene setting and knew it would be a stunning place for a wedding. After talking with the staff, we learned there is actually a separate building exclusively for events, so naturally we had to go check it out - after eating some lunch, listening to live music, and enjoying a couple of glasses of wine of course!
Walking down the path from the main building to the event space, we saw a breathtaking waterfront gazebo that is absolutely perfect for an outdoor wedding. Framed by trees and scenic rocks, the gazebo is the perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony and portraits. There is a walkway from the building to the gazebo that is ideal for walking down the aisle. The gorgeous Tuscan inspired architecture is also present in the event space building providing a great location for a reception with lots of different areas to take photos.
